Overview

The interferometric radar, also known as georadar, is an advanced monitoring system designed to detect and measure slow movements in natural environments, such as rock instabilities and permafrost. Operating from a safe distance, it offers high-accuracy measurements of rock and ice deformation across extensive areas. This technology is particularly beneficial for monitoring glaciers and rock walls, providing early warnings for rock and ice falls, including volume estimation. With a range of up to 4 km and an areal coverage exceeding 5 km², the interferometric radar can detect sub-millimeter deformations and measure 2-D deformation vectors. Its autonomous power supply and rapid installation make it ideal for temporary operations, especially in alpine environments.

Features and Capabilities

  • Large Area Monitoring: Capable of monitoring glaciers and rock walls over extensive areas, providing comprehensive data on terrain stability.
  • Fast Movement Detection: Able to detect rapid movements and trigger alarms promptly, enhancing safety measures in hazardous zones.
  • Slow and Long-Term Deformation Detection: Sensitive to gradual and long-term deformations, facilitating early detection of potential hazards.
  • Early Warning System: Provides early warnings for rock and ice falls, including volume estimation, allowing for timely evacuations and preventive actions.
  • Extended Range and Coverage: Operates over distances up to 4 km and covers areas larger than 5 km², ensuring extensive monitoring capabilities.
  • High Precision Measurement: Detects deformations in the sub-millimeter range, ensuring high-precision monitoring of terrain movements.
  • 2-D Deformation Vector Measurement: Measures two-dimensional deformation vectors, offering detailed insights into the direction and magnitude of movements.
  • Suitability for Alpine Environments: Designed to function effectively in alpine environments, with an autonomous power supply and rapid installation capabilities.
  • Quick Installation: Can be installed within a few hours, making it ideal for temporary operations and rapid deployment in response to emerging threats.
